Thanks for that Simon I didn’t realise the river was navigable to motor cruisers that far up, I guess there must be a bit of a balancing act with the sluices to try and prevent serious flooding in Canterbury. BTW I think the top and bottom pictures may be the same picture.
Is that in fact Fordwich, the smallest town in England, and where boats were built in ancient times?
I have just learned that we had an even wetter Jan/Feb in 1852. Probably caused by all those 4x4 horses?
