Diversity at its Best

Is the employment news from Corby bad for places like Thanet?

"Scores of public sector workers are being relocated from a town because its residents are "too white and British", it has been claimed.

The Prison Service has decided to move 80 administrative staff next month from the predominantly white Corby, Northants, to Leicester, a city with a more ethnically diverse workforce."

Ed: Does this decision mean that if an opportunity ever exists to create public sector jobs here in hard-pressed Thanet but there's a marginal consituency somewhere else, with greater diversity, then the jobs would go elsewhere? Is such affirmatve action good for for the future or dangerous meddling?

Before I retired businesses were required to state if they utilised the quota of ethnic employees and we used to say according to the number of employees we covered our quota. I presume the rules have changed. But it does'nt bode well for Thanet I would have thought. There will be trouble ahead I feel eventually with all this meddling.

It would be very unfair to the sizable proportion of our prison population who originated overseas if we had all WASP prison staff.
So there's another good reason for it!

Corby was once a thriving steel town and became a victim of Thatcherism before the British Steel sell off . The former British Steel became Corus and merged with Hoogevans and now a Indian company own it.The conservatives have had a cheap dig at ethnic diversity in the telegraph over jobs in corby but it was their policies that are the root cause leading to a whole British industry becoming Indian controlled.

For those of you who are not aware, Corby is full of Scots! Miners from Scotland relocated to work for British coal in Corby and I would argue that this shows ethnic diversity in a corner of East anglia already!

Indian control of the industry was a simple question of economics in much the same way that my technical support call was handled by a Microsoft call centre in Bangalore this week.

What has the decline of the steel industry got to do with the recruitment policy of the Home Office? Please enlighten me! This story is pretty much typical of the politically correct nonsense that flourishes in Blair's Britain. The population of Corby is pretty much typical of the ethnic mix of the country at large so there should be no problem recruiting a diverse mix.
As for the comment about it being unfair on the high proportion of foreign criminals. There is an easy answer to that. Deport them! In any case since when has serving time in prison been fair or unfair? They are criminals that's why they are there. Who cares if they don't like it?
