Another Cliftonville Murder?

Police have launched an investigation after a man found with serious head injuries in public toilets later died in hospital.

Police say they are treating his death as suspicious following the discovery by a cleaner in toilets in Fifth Avenue, Cliftonville, near Margate, yesterday at about 9.30am.

The man, who was in his 40s is believed to be from the Margate area where he is thought to have had several addresses. He died last night in Margate's Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital at about 8.40pm.

He has not yet been formally identified. A post mortem is being conducted to establish the cause of death.

Det Ch Insp Dean Barnes said: "We urgently need to know how this man received such severe head injuries. I would appeal to the local community to have confidence in the police that any information provided will be treated sensitively and in confidence."

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death and are being question by detectives. They are a 44-year-old man from Margate and a 21-year-old, of no fixed home.

It would seem the policy of releasing psychopaths from secure prison and dumping them in Thanet is really beginning to pay off.

I was told that prisoners being released from canterbury nick where issued with a travel warrent to Margate so as not to disturb the residents of Canterbury.

I seem to remember the horror of a murder in Broadstairs 50 0dd years ago. A Mrs Chubb, I think.

This one though, seems to make murder a 'common occurence' in Thanet. 2 in two months. The last 2 being drugs related (in my own opinion).
If we are being used as a 'dumping ground' for convicts, then there ought to be some kind of reduction in our C-Tax to cover this disreputable action taken by the TDC in allowing such an action to take place!

The Athelstan road murder happened 14th March. I make that 2 in just over 2 weeks.

In reply to anon 6:15, that is incorrect, I work at Canterbury railway station, most warrants I have seen issued for ex cons are London bound or Ashford.For the record Ex cons from prison are easily indentifiable on railway stations because their possssions are in clear bags.

It would give events a nice symmetry.

i work very close to where the murder took place. it looks to me to be a case of someone using the toilets for gay fun that has gone wrong. it is about time the toilets are closed. this is not the first incedent in the toilets.

Murder = Gay Fun!
I hardly think so, but it could be Drugs related. I have heard that a lot of Thanet's 'crack' heads sell their bodies to buy the drugs they need to fullfil their addiction.
