House fire deaths are so sad; often the cause is a cigarette falling out of fingers and setting fire to sofa as smoker sleeps on. If there is a saving grace in such circumstance it is that the poisonous fumes of smouldering sofa before conflagration begins has already killed the sleeper. May she rest in peace.

The fire engine attending the fire passed me about 23:55 in Cresent Road as I was coming home from work. The vehicle must have been about 180 metres from the scene of the fire when it could not pass because illegally parked cars blocking the road. I didn't hang around to witness avents but the illegally parked cars DID cause a unnecessary problem.

Ed, its me again anon 10:36am. Page 3 of the extra 23/02/07 makes interesting reading. One thing that was not mentioned, was that the Fire Engine had to sound its siren to gets residents to move their cars. At one point the fire engine was reversing down codrinton avenue.
