Baseball Bat Mugging

A Man was robbed by a gang of three men, one of whom was carrying a baseball bat, as he walked through Dane Park at the end of January.

The 35-year-old was in the Addiscombe Road area of the park when he heard their footsteps behind him.

One of the men told the walker to empty his pockets and hand over cash. The victim gave him £50.

The man brandishing the baseball bat then prodded him in the chest with it and complained about the quantity of cash. All three attackers then ran off towards Cliftonville.

The victim was unhurt.

One man was white, aged 18-20, about 5ft 8in, of medium build, with messy, short dark, brown hair. He wore a white jumper with blue colourings and a scarf.

Anyone with information about the incident, which took place at lunchtime on January 28, is asked to contact police on 01843 222071 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

What sporty types our Thanet footpads are and so charming; complaining about the amount they were extorting with threats of violence from their unfortunate victim. This is Thanet for goodness sake; if that had been me a pocket of loose change would have earned me a serious battering!
One man was WHITE? So what were the other two; or is it non PC to describe them in a similar way?

It's a valid comment. The other two suspects would be more likely to stick in the memory if they were not "local" so why not say so. Perhaps one had a wooden leg? The public has good reason to wonder if political correctness is the principal concern of policing these days

Police are yet again a sore point with me, they were outside the Sea Bathing Hospital Wed morning stopping cars, I had hoped they were going to stop me as I have now been waiting one week for them to come and see me about some criminal damage breaking and entering and a burglary in Canterbury Rd Westbrook, but no such luck.
I have been up to the Nick last Friday to see if I could give anyone the info I have on the likely suspects but no one could find any trace of the crime number etc. One good thing - the SOCO (not now a policeman) turned up within the hour and got some good prints.

You'ld have to be stupid to walk through a dark park round here, or indeed to go out in the dark walking anywhere much in Thanet.
Don't be a victim, stay home and invest in barbed wire and good locks, fences etc.
