Seaside Hotspot

A couple who falsely claimed more than £2,000 in handouts are among a small army of cheats making Thanet a benefit fraud hotspot.

Tatum Cahill and Peter Bishop have been exposed by the Department for Work and Pensions but they are the tip of the iceberg. Benefit fraud being detected by Thanet council has also soared.

Benefit cheats have defrauded the taxpayer out of almost £300,000 in the six months between April and September. That's cash that should go to jobless and sick people.

People who suspect their neighbours or workmates of being ''on the take'' are being urged to make anonymous tip-offs to Thanet council's fraud investigation team."

I did but I think there is so much of it going on that they can't catch all of them.

what annoys me more is perfectly healthy people who could get a job but won't because they can't be bothered or because they would have to pay rent and council tax. I know of more than one dual parented family where one has illness and the other, who does not, will not work, despite having no childcare issues.

Let's half the benefit of ALL those who could work but won't - that'll sort the situation out!

Societies "Leeches". It's because of them we pay so much Tax.
The Prisons are full, it's because of them we pay so much Tax.
Our Soldiers are getting shot and blown to bits in a place where they don't want to be, and they are not wanted, but or Government says they have to be there. It's because of that we pay so much Tax.

Wait a moment..... if WE didn't pay Tax.... there would be No 'Leeches' (they would have to work to earn their food and keep). The Prisoners would have to WORK to earn their food and keep, and on the MOST positive side...our Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen would all be home where they belong.
