Thanet Drugs Raids

The BBC reports that Police made eighteen arrests in Thanet during dawn drugs raids yesterday morning.

A total of 16 people are due in court charged with various drugs offences after raids in Kent and London.

More than 100 officers from across Kent supported Tuesday morning's operation, the result of intelligence-gathering over the course of six months.

Fourteen men and one woman from Kent, and a man from London, are charged with being involved in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.

They are all due to appear at either Margate or Canterbury magistrates' courts on Wednesday.

Another man from Kent will appear before Margate magistrates on 15 August.

Three women - two from London and one from Kent - and a 15-year-old girl from London were released on bail.

Another woman from London was released without charge.

A Kent Police spokesman said the drugs raids would have "a significant impact" on the trade in Thanet.
