Sunken Gardens

I stumbled across a conversation on the subject of the Sunken Gardens in Westbrook this morning. Apparently, large groups of teenagers are using it late at night, with a resulting increase in anti-social behaviour as a consequence.

One suggestion was that the owners of the large and valuable properties along the Royal Esplanade should “Chip in for a man and a dog” but I’m not convinced that would be a popular move, given recent and future increases in Council Tax.

I’m not sure that another suggestion, concreting it over and turning it into a BMX bike track would be popular either.

What I would like to know however is the scale of the reported problem surrounding the landmark. Is it exaggerated or is there a real problem there that needs urgent action?
